Strategy Explanation

This TH9 War Base is built around a very clear anti 2 star idea: keep the Town Hall deep in the middle, surround it with multiple small compartments, and force attackers to spend time cutting through layers before they can lock in the second star. The core is compact, but the route into it is not clean. Defenses and storages are staggered in a way that slows both heroes and tank-based pushes, especially if the attacker does not create a tight funnel early.

The layout uses a diamond-style shape with offset compartments around the center. That matters because it breaks direct pathing from the outer ring into the Town Hall. At TH9, that can be enough to throw off common war hits like GoHo, Kill Squad Hog, or basic dragon attacks that rely on getting key defenses quickly. The X-Bows sit toward the core where they can cover several approach angles, while the Air Defenses are spread across the base rather than stacked on one side. That balanced coverage makes it harder to remove all air control with one entry.

Another important detail is the way outer buildings are arranged. They are not packed too tightly, so attackers do not get easy funnel value for free. At the same time, the base is still compact enough that core defenses can overlap once troops step inside. If the defensive structure suits your current setup, you can use the copy-layout option to load it directly into Clash of Clans.

Strengths

This layout does a good job of making the second star take real commitment instead of giving it away on a simple push through one side.

  • Central Town Hall: The Town Hall is well protected and not reachable from a shallow wall break.
  • Layered compartments: Small sections force extra wall breaks and create awkward movement for heroes and tanks.
  • Balanced air defense spread: Dragons cannot focus one side and remove all air coverage at once.
  • Core X-Bow coverage: Strong central damage supports the anti 2 star concept well.
  • Good defensive overlap: Once troops move inward, they enter range of several point defenses at the same time.

Core Protection

The main defensive value of this TH9 base is in the center. The Town Hall is not sitting beside the outer layer, and there are several defensive compartments between the edge and the core. That forces attackers to invest either jump spells, multiple wall breaks, or a strong hero push to reach the middle. At TH9, that kind of spell pressure matters because every heal, rage, or jump used for access is one less spell available for the back end of the raid.

The central X-Bows and surrounding wizard towers help punish troops after they break the first layer. This is especially useful against mixed pushes where the attacker wants to secure the Town Hall and then transition into cleanup for percent.

Air Attack Considerations

Against dragons, the spread of the Air Defenses is the first thing that stands out. They are placed across separate sections instead of being grouped, which limits the value of one direct push. The sweep of defensive coverage from archer towers, wizard towers, and X-Bows also means dragons continue taking damage even after the first Air Defense goes down.

The layout is also decent against reckless balloon follow-up because the air-targeting defenses are not all exposed on one edge. An attacker will usually need a proper funnel rather than just dropping everything in a line.

Ground Pathing and Wall Pressure

Ground armies should feel the compartment pressure quickly here. The base does not offer a straight road to the Town Hall, and the inner junctions can cause tanks and heroes to split if funneling is not clean. Hog attacks can still work at TH9, but they will depend heavily on how much value the kill squad gets before the hog phase starts.

If the attacker enters too wide, troops can walk around the outer lanes while the core defenses stay active. That is one of the better features of this design, since anti 2 star war bases at TH9 often fail when they give up easy central access.

Best Use in War

This layout makes the most sense as a TH9 War Base where your goal is to deny simple 2 stars from equal-level attackers. It is not trying to protect resources first. Instead, it asks the attacker to earn core access and commit real spells to the middle. That makes it a practical choice for regular war and for matchups where you expect dragon spam or standard entry-based attacks rather than highly customized triple plans.

If you want a TH9 base that keeps the Town Hall protected and does not hand over the center early, this is a reliable structure to test.
