TH17 Defense Base with Central Town Hall Core
Latest Reviews
Strategy Explanation
This TH17 base is built around a compact central core with the Town Hall placed deep in the middle and surrounded by layered compartments. The layout uses a diamond-style shell with multiple angled wall breaks, which makes clean pathing harder for both spam and more controlled entries. Instead of offering one obvious side to push through, the base spreads key defenses across the left, right, and upper sections while keeping the heaviest value in the center.
The Town Hall sits low-central in the core, with strong defensive coverage around it and limited direct access from the outer ring. The core also looks packed enough to punish troops that drift inward too early, especially if an attacker does not set a disciplined funnel. On both flanks, the heavier point defenses and splash coverage are separated into distinct compartments, which helps prevent one entry from removing too much value at once.
The upper half of the layout has important defenses and utility buildings stacked behind layers, forcing attackers to commit deeper if they want to remove support for the core. The lower half protects the Town Hall approach with more compartments and defensive anchors, so a straight push from 6 o'clock is unlikely to stay clean without strong spell support. Overall, this base looks designed to make attackers choose between a risky deep entry for Town Hall value or a wider path that leaves central defenses active for longer.
Strengths
This layout does a good job of forcing awkward movement and making high-value defenses harder to collect in one phase.
- Protected Town Hall: The Town Hall is not exposed to easy edge snipes and requires real commitment.
- Split defensive value: Major defenses are distributed across separate compartments instead of stacked in one section.
- Good anti-pathing shape: The angled core and offset walls can pull troops away from the ideal route.
- Solid all-around coverage: Air and ground threats have to deal with defense from multiple directions as they move inward.
- Limited easy chain value: Outer structures are not packed so tightly that every air spam attack gets free early momentum.
Core Pressure
The central section is the main reason this base works. Once troops step into the middle, they are likely to be under pressure from several compartments at once rather than facing one isolated pocket. That matters against smash-style attacks and Root Rider entries, since those armies want smooth access through the heart of the base. Here, the core is compact enough to stay dangerous even if one layer is opened.
If this defensive structure suits your current setup, you can use the copy-layout option to load the base directly into Clash of Clans.
Air Attack Considerations
This layout is reasonably helpful against air because it does not hand over a simple straight flight path to the Town Hall. Air defenses are spread well enough that one blimp-supported phase should not remove everything protecting the center. The broad shape also reduces the chance of a full sweep around the outer ring without defenses continuing to fire from the opposite side.
Electro Dragons may still look for value on corners where buildings line up into compartments, but the base is not built as one long chain-friendly box. Balloons and heroes are usually needed to support the push and keep the flight path under control.
Ground Entry Angles
Ground armies will usually look at the left or right side first, where they can try to remove a section and turn into the middle. The challenge is that the compartments are staggered, so opening one wall does not guarantee direct access to the next target. That can waste troop momentum and pull key units off the ideal route.
A frontal push from the bottom side has to deal with the Town Hall approach without much margin for sloppy funneling. If the entry spreads too wide, the core stays active and the attack loses pressure before reaching the upper half.
Funneling and Hero Value
One of the more useful features here is how much this layout asks from the funnel. Heroes can pick off side value, but turning them into the exact compartment you want is not automatic. That makes the Archer Queen and Royal Champion less reliable unless the attacker invests early support.
Because the shape is balanced from side to side, small funnel mistakes are punished quickly. Troops can split around compartments instead of driving straight to the highest-value defenses. Against strong attackers that may not always stop the two-star, but it can absolutely reduce how cleanly they finish the back end of the base.
Where This Base Fits Best
This is a practical TH17 defense base for players who want a general-purpose layout with a protected Town Hall and compact central pressure. It makes sense for regular multiplayer defense and can also work as a solid day-to-day setup when you want a 3
