Strategy Explanation

This TH17 layout uses a diamond-style core with the Town Hall protected inside the upper-right side of the main defensive block rather than sitting completely exposed in the middle. That makes it useful as a war base for players who want to make the attacker work for the first star while still having enough layered damage to defend against a full three-star push.

The strongest part of the layout is the way the compartments break up pathing. Troops entering from one edge do not get a straight walk through every high-value defense. They are forced to turn, split, or chew through extra walls, which is exactly what you want against spam armies, Electro Dragons, air hybrids, and ground smash attacks. The outer buildings also help stretch the base, so attackers need a proper funnel instead of simply dropping everything in a line.

Strengths

  • Protected Town Hall access: the Town Hall is reachable, but not cheaply. An attacker usually needs a committed push, blimp plan, or strong hero entry to secure it safely.
  • Good anti-air spacing: air defenses, heavy splash, and point defenses are not all stacked in one easy Freeze or Rage value area, which helps against Electro Dragon chains and Hydra-style hits.
  • Awkward troop routing: the segmented core can pull troops away from the intended path, especially if the funnel is rushed or one side collapses too slowly.
  • Hybrid-friendly protection: storages and defenses are spread in a way that keeps both war value and resource protection in mind, making it usable outside of strict CWL preparation too.

Town Hall and Core Protection

The Town Hall placement is the main reason this layout works as an anti 2-star option. It is not sitting on the outside where a Queen, Sneaky Goblins, or a small hero dive can pick it off for free. At the same time, it is not placed so deep that the rest of the base becomes too easy to clear for percentage. Attackers have to choose between sending a direct push into the Town Hall side or starting elsewhere and risking a messy second phase.

The surrounding compartments also protect nearby heavy defenses, which means the attacker often has to spend spells before reaching the most important section of the base. That can make the back end much harder to finish.

Anti Electro Dragon Pathing

This is a strong style for slowing Electro Dragon attacks because the chain value is not as clean as it first looks. Key defenses and support buildings are staggered across compartments, and the outside ring gives E-Drags several chances to drift instead of driving straight into the core. If the attacker does not build a proper funnel, the army can split around the diamond and leave the Town Hall area standing too long.

The spread air coverage also matters. Rather than relying on one overloaded air pocket, the base forces air troops to pass through several damage zones. That is helpful against Electro Dragons, Dragons, Dragon Riders, and mixed air pushes.

Best Use for War and CWL

This layout fits best as a TH17 war base or CWL anti 2-star setup, especially against clans that lean on air spam or simple smash entries. It is also practical as a hybrid layout if you want a base that does not completely ignore storage placement while still defending like a war design.

If you use the copy layout option, check your trap positions after importing and adjust a few Seeking Air Mines or Giant Bombs based on what your opponents usually run. Small trap swaps can keep the same structure fresh without rebuilding the whole base.

Attacker Mistakes This Base Punishes

  • Dropping Electro Dragons without trimming both outside corners first.
  • Sending heroes into a side compartment without a clear exit plan.
  • Using the blimp too early before major air defenses or sweep pressure is handled.
  • Starting opposite the Town Hall and depending on late cleanup to secure the second star.
