Strategy Explanation
This TH8 base is built around making straight dragon attacks less comfortable. The layout keeps the important anti-air value inside the wall structure instead of leaving air defenses close to the edge. The core is fairly tight, with the Town Hall, Clan Castle, storages, and key defenses packed into layered compartments. That means dragons have to spend time chewing through higher-hitpoint buildings while the air defenses, wizard towers, archer towers, and air traps keep working.
The outside ring is also important. Builder huts, collectors, army camps, barracks, and other trash buildings are spread around the base rather than stacked in one easy line. This makes funneling less clean for basic mass dragon hits, especially when the attacker wants dragons to move directly into the middle. If the funnel is rushed, part of the army can drift around the edge while the core keeps firing.
Strengths
- Protected air defenses: The air defenses sit deeper in the base, forcing dragons to commit before they can reach them.
- Good storage buffering: Elixir, gold, and dark elixir storages add extra hitpoints around the central defenses.
- Awkward dragon pathing: The wide outer trash ring can pull dragons sideways if the attacker does not create a proper funnel.
- Layered compartments: Ground troops also have to break through several sections instead of walking straight to the core.
Air Defense Coverage
The main reason this layout fits the anti air and anti dragon tag is the way the air defenses are not all sitting on the perimeter. They are placed far enough inside that dragons must fly over other defenses and storage buildings before reaching them. This buys time, which is exactly what a TH8 anti-dragon base needs. Wizard towers and archer towers support the inner area, helping clean up balloons or weakened dragons after traps trigger.
Dragon Pathing and Outer Trash
The base uses a fairly broad outside layer of non-defensive buildings. Against dragons, that matters more than many players think. If an attacker drops dragons too wide, the army can split around the outer buildings instead of driving straight inward. A clean funnel is still possible, but it takes more planning and usually costs extra troops or spells.
Core Value Protection
The central compartments protect the Town Hall area and key resources with multiple layers. Storages are placed where they can soak damage rather than sitting uselessly outside. This is useful for regular defense because attackers often lose time on high-hitpoint buildings while defenses continue firing from behind walls.
Best Use and Copy Layout Notes
This is a good TH8 base layout for players who mainly want better defense against casual mass dragon raids and air-heavy attacks. It can also work as a general defensive base if your walls and air defenses are upgraded. If you use the copy layout option, check trap placement after importing and adjust air bombs or seeking air mines toward the side where dragons most often enter in your trophy range.
