Strategy Explanation
This TH17 anti 3 star layout plays like a war defense base that wants the attacker to spend too much time getting reliable value. The Town Hall sits in a protected lower-core area rather than being left as an easy early grab, while the main damage buildings are spread through several lanes around it. That makes straight-line spam less comfortable, because troops have to move through different pockets of damage instead of rolling through one clean path.
The base also uses a wide diamond-style shape with defenses and trash buildings placed around the outside to make funneling messy. An attacker can still take a side, but they need a clean plan for heroes, siege machine pathing, and spell timing. If they miss the funnel, troops can walk around the ring while the core defenses stay alive longer than expected.
Strengths
- Good anti 3 star value: the Town Hall, key defenses, and core damage are not all sitting in one easy entry path.
- Awkward funneling: the outer buildings and defensive ring can pull troops sideways, especially on spam-style attacks.
- Layered damage: high-value defenses are spread across the base, so one Freeze or Overgrowth does not shut everything down.
- Strong late-base pressure: if the attacker enters from the top or side, the lower Town Hall area can stay dangerous into the final phase.
Town Hall Protection and Core Pressure
The Town Hall is not handed over at the edge, which is important for an anti 3 star TH17 base. Attackers usually want to secure the Town Hall while also collecting big defense value nearby. Here, the lower-core placement forces them to commit troops, spells, or a siege machine if they want it early. If they delay it, they risk having the Town Hall weapon and nearby defenses active during the back end of the hit.
This is especially useful against players who rely on a simple Blimp or direct push. They may get the Town Hall, but the rest of the base is not lined up neatly behind it, so the triple still takes clean execution.
Pathing Against Spam Attacks
The outer ring is one of the better parts of this coc base layout. There are enough buildings outside the walls to slow down heroes and create small pathing mistakes, but the base still keeps important defenses away from easy snipes. Root Rider, Titan, or Dragon spam can move through a side, but the troops may split toward separate defensive pockets instead of staying in one tight group.
That split matters at TH17 because healing and protection spells are strongest when the army stays packed. Once troops separate, the splash damage, single-target defenses, and hero pressure start picking them off.
Hero and Siege Entry Notes
For defense testing, watch how often attackers choose the bottom side for the Town Hall or the upper side for safe percentage. If too many players are getting the Town Hall with a low-investment Blimp, shift air traps toward that flight line. If ground entries are cutting through too easily, move a few Spring Traps and Tornado Trap coverage toward the most common wall break point.
Use the copy layout option as a starting version, then adjust traps after a few wars or friendly challenges. The building structure is solid for anti 3 star defense, but trap tuning is what makes it hold better against your clan’s usual attack meta.
