Strategy Explanation

This TH17 War Base uses an offset Town Hall setup instead of placing everything in a simple dead-center box. The Town Hall sits in the upper-right side of the core, protected by multiple layers of walls and surrounded by other high-value defenses, which makes direct access awkward. Attackers can reach important targets, but they usually have to commit deeper than they want, and that creates more time under concentrated fire.

The base is built around a chain of narrow compartments that run through the middle rather than a wide open core. That matters because it breaks up clean troop movement and makes many standard funnel plans less reliable. Ground armies do not get a straight sweep through the center, and air armies cannot take all major defenses in one line without drifting into extra damage zones.

Another visible feature is the spread of major defenses across separate sections. The heavier defenses are not stacked tightly into one spell-friendly block, and the layout forces attackers to choose between Town Hall pressure, side value, or deeper core access. In war, that is useful because it can turn a clean triple attempt into an awkward attack where the second phase loses shape.

Strengths

This layout does a good job of creating uncomfortable pathing while still keeping the Town Hall protected by the base as a whole rather than by a single obvious compartment.

  • Offset Town Hall placement makes direct blimp or straight-line ground entries less natural.
  • Layered inner walls can slow root pathing and force extra wall breaks or jump usage.
  • Separated key defenses reduce easy freeze and rage value across the core.
  • Wide defensive footprint makes it harder to carry momentum from one side of the base to the other.
  • Outer trash and side structures can distort funneling if the attacker is even slightly off.

Town Hall Side Pressure

The upper-right core is the identity of this layout. Reaching the Town Hall is not impossible, but it is awkward because the approach is pinched by walls and neighboring defenses. That usually forces one of two bad choices for the attacker: commit a heavier push early just to secure the Town Hall, or delay that objective and risk losing control of the attack before getting there.

In war attacks, that kind of pressure is valuable because many plans are built around securing the Town Hall efficiently and then letting the main army coast. This layout tries to interrupt that sequence.

Ground Attack Pathing

Against smash or Root Rider style hits, the compartment shape is doing a lot of the work. The center lanes are not broad, and there are several turns where troops can split or drift sideways toward nearby defenses instead of moving exactly where the attacker wants. That can lead to heroes walking off, support troops cutting a side compartment, or the main push losing pace before it reaches the strongest defenses.

The lower half also does not look like a free funnel. There are enough structures outside and around the compartments to make a rushed setup punishable. If this defensive shape matches your current war needs, the copy-layout option is worth using so you can test how your clanmates path through it before putting it into CWL.

Air Attack Considerations

This base is not especially compact, which helps against simple air spam. Electro Dragons usually want clean chain value through tight building lines, but this layout has enough stagger and spacing in key areas to make full chain progression less reliable. Air troops can still move well through the base if the entry is correct, but they are less likely to get effortless value from one side to the other.

The split defensive coverage also means a blimp or straight air dive has to be chosen carefully. Going too hard for the Town Hall can leave side defenses standing, while clearing the flanks first can cost too much time or spell support.

Funnel Pressure on the Left and Bottom Edges

The left side and lower side both have enough exterior structure to create funnel decisions without being fully obvious entry points. That is useful in war because attackers often see these edges as setup zones. If they spend too much value there, they may not have enough left for the core. If they underspend, the army can slide around the compartments instead of entering them.

This is one of those layouts that rewards defensive patience. It may not instantly stop a hit at the perimeter, but it is built to make the attack lose shape in stages.

Best Use in War

This TH17 base makes the most sense as a regular War Base or a CWL option when you want to avoid giving attackers a simple one-direction plan. It is strongest against players who rely on clean pathing and early Town Hall control. More precise attackers will still find routes into it, but they have to earn that value rather than getting it for free from the layout.
