Strategy Explanation

This TH18 Legend League layout plays as a diamond-ring anti 3 star base rather than a simple box base. The main idea is to make troops walk around the village while the strongest defenses keep firing from the middle. The outer edges are not empty; they carry cannons, archer towers, resource buildings, builder huts, and small defenses placed wide enough to force a real funnel. If an attacker starts with a spam army from one side, the first wave has to clear outside buildings before it reaches the main wall line, giving your ricochet cannons, splash defenses, and air defenses time to cut down the push.

The middle area is the part attackers want, but it is not handed to them in a straight line. The walls create angled routes from each side, so ground troops can drift into side paths instead of locking onto the highest-value defenses right away. This is useful in Legend League, where many hits rely on Root Riders, hero dives, Electro Titan support, or air spam creating a fast lane through the base. Here, the core is protected by overlapping damage and traps, while the Clan Castle sits in a spot that can punish a late or messy entry.

Strengths

  • Good anti 3 star shape: The diamond layout makes clean pathing harder, especially for spam armies that depend on one straight push.
  • Strong middle pressure: Heavy defenses, heroes, traps, and the Clan Castle are packed close enough to punish troops once they commit inside.
  • Useful in Legend League: The base spreads value across the map, so attackers cannot remove everything with one simple blimp, one queen charge, or one hero dive.
  • Awkward edge funneling: The outside buildings are placed to slow entries and make early troop control more annoying.
  • Air traps near key value: The core trap placement can hurt Balloons, Dragons, and support troops when they try to cross the base.

Diamond Ring Pathing

The best part of this layout is the way the walls shape troop movement. From the screenshot, the village forms a large diamond with smaller angled lanes around the middle. That matters because troops like Root Riders, Bowlers, Yetis, and heroes do not always choose the route attackers expect. If the funnel is not tight, they can peel around the ring and leave the core defenses firing for longer than planned.

This is also why the base works better as an anti 3 star layout than as a simple anti 2 star design. It is not only trying to protect the Town Hall or one area. It is trying to waste time, split troops, and make the attacker spend spells before the army reaches full value. In Legend League, that can be the difference between a high percentage two star and a triple.

Core Trap and Clan Castle Pressure

The center has visible trap density and defensive value around the Clan Castle area. That is a smart choice for this style of TH18 layout because most strong attacks eventually need to cross the middle. Seeking Air Mines and red Air Bomb coverage can punish Lava Hounds, Balloons, Dragons, or a blimp path. Ground traps in this zone are also useful against Root Riders and hero pushes because they slow the moment when attackers want momentum.

The Clan Castle position is especially annoying because it is not sitting on the outside where it can be pulled for free. Many attackers will trigger it during the main push, which forces them to deal with defending troops while facing splash and single-target pressure. If you use defensive troops with good stall value, such as Ice Golems, Super Minions, Rocket Loons, or a mix your clan prefers, this base can waste a lot of spell time in the middle.

Air Defense and Anti Electro Dragon Value

The air coverage is spread well enough that an Electro Dragon player cannot just chain through one straight row of high-value buildings. The layout uses space between key defenses and keeps the main air threats from being stacked too tightly on the edge. That helps against Electro Dragons, Dragon Riders, and Balloon-based entries, because the attacker has to choose between chasing outside value or pushing into the trapped middle.

The two sides also have enough defensive reach to make early funnels less comfortable. If an attacker drops heroes or a small air group on the edge, they can take some value, but they are also exposed to point defenses and awkward building spacing. This does not make the base immune to air, but it does force cleaner spell timing than many flat TH18 layouts.

Best Use in Legend League

This layout is a good choice for players who face a mix of spam hits, air attacks, and hero-heavy openers in daily Legend League defenses. It is not built around hiding one trick. It works by making every entry cost time and by keeping enough damage alive for the second half of the raid.
