Strategy Explanation

This TH18 war base uses a compact diamond shape with the Town Hall placed high in the layout rather than sitting dead center. That matters because attackers have to choose between committing early for the Town Hall or trying to push through the middle and risk running out of control. The core is split into several small compartments, so spam armies do not get one clean lane through the base.

The strongest part of this layout is the way it makes pathing uncomfortable. A straight push from the bottom has to deal with layered defenses before reaching the central value, while a top-side entry can secure the Town Hall but often leaves the lower half of the base standing. For war and CWL, that kind of trade-off is useful because it pressures attackers into a safer 2-star instead of a full clear.

Strengths

  • Good anti 3 star structure: the base does not give away an easy full-base path after the Town Hall goes down.
  • Split core compartments: heavy defenses are separated enough to slow Root Rider, hero, and smash-style pushes.
  • Awkward funneling: the outer buildings and staggered compartments can pull troops sideways if the attacker is loose with funnel troops.
  • Legend League friendly: the compact build keeps damage active quickly and punishes lazy spam attacks.
  • Protected high-value area: the central defenses force investment instead of being picked off for free from the edge.

Town Hall Compartment Pressure

The Town Hall sits toward the upper side behind layered defenses, which creates a real decision for the attacker. If they start near the Town Hall, they can usually secure the star, but their army may path around the outside afterward. If they attack from the bottom, they must push through more of the base before reaching the Town Hall, which increases the chance of ability timing mistakes.

This setup is especially useful against players who rely on a simple straight-line spam plan. The Hall position makes the attack less automatic and often forces a blimp, hero dive, or early commitment.

Split Core and Defensive Spacing

The central area is not one open box. It is broken into smaller pockets, with key defenses spread across the middle instead of stacked in a single easy spell zone. That spacing helps against smash attacks because troops have to retarget several times, and each retarget gives defenses more time to fire.

The base also avoids giving attackers one obvious compartment that contains all the value. This is important at TH18, where a strong entry can snowball quickly if too many defenses are packed together.

Anti-Funnel Edge Design

The outside ring is shaped to make funneling less clean. Buildings sit wide enough to drag support troops outward, while the inner compartments punish armies that drift too far around the edge. This is where the layout can steal defenses in Legend League: not by stopping every push instantly, but by making the attacker lose control halfway through.

If you use the copy layout option, avoid moving the outer trash buildings unless you know why you are changing them. Small funnel changes can make the base much easier to path through.

Best Use Cases

This TH18 layout fits war, CWL, and Legend League defense best. It is not a pure farming base, because the storage protection is secondary to defensive pathing and anti 3 star value. Use it when you want a copy link base that can make top-side Town Hall plans awkward and force attackers to work for the triple.
