COC Bases: Best TH18 Defense Layouts (Copy Links)

Defend daily multiplayer attacks with TH18 defense bases built to reduce triples, protect trophies, and stay strong against mixed air and ground armies. Copy any base instantly with 1-tap links.

How to Choose the Best TH18 Defense Layout

A TH18 defense layout is intended for regular defensive use against a broad range of multiplayer and Ranked attacks. Unlike a specialized anti-air base or an anti-3-star war layout, a general defense base should protect trophies, control easy percentage and make common attack routes more expensive.

The best TH18 defense base for your account is the layout that matches the attacks appearing in your defense log. It should protect the Town Hall without concentrating every important defense in one compartment, preserve damage for the back end and provide useful coverage against both air and ground armies.

Use the layouts on this page as practical starting designs. Compare Town Hall access, Guardian selection, outside percentage, wall routes, trap placement and defensive coverage before choosing a base. No layout can guarantee a defensive win against every army, Hero setup or level of attacker.

Broad Air and Ground Coverage

A general TH18 defense layout should apply pressure to both air and ground armies. Air Defenses, Sweepers and air traps should work alongside walls, splash defenses, Inferno Towers, the Monolith and ground traps.

Avoid committing every important building to one narrow counter. An extremely air-focused base may create easy ground paths, while a compact ground-defense core can provide chain or spell value to flying armies.

Practical Town Hall Protection

The Town Hall should require a meaningful troop, Hero, spell or Siege Machine commitment. It should not be available through a nearly free edge entry or an unchallenged direct route.

At the same time, avoid placing the Town Hall, Guardian, Monolith, Spell Towers and every major splash defense in one overloaded compartment.

Percentage and Cleanup Control

Regular attackers often begin by collecting exposed outside buildings and creating a simple funnel. Selected perimeter structures should remain under defensive coverage so half of the village cannot be removed safely.

Outside buildings can also increase travel time, but random separation may create isolated defenses and easy cleanup. Their placement should support the intended troop route.

General-Purpose Trap Coverage

Defensive traps should cover routes used by common Heroes, troops and Siege Machines rather than depend on one highly specific surprise.

Spread trap pressure across the opening, core and back end so attackers continue facing uncertainty after the first compartment is destroyed.

What Makes a TH18 Defense Layout Different?

The defense category is meant for broad, repeatable use. A war layout may be designed specifically to prevent a planned three-star attack, while an anti-air layout deliberately prioritizes Electro Dragons, Balloons and Battle Blimps.

A general Town Hall 18 defense base should instead handle mixed attacking conditions. Opponents may use air spam, Smash armies, Hero dives, Miner and Hog Rider combinations, Meteor Golems, Siege Machines or cleanup-focused attacks.

This category can overlap with all-rounder layouts, but the intent is slightly different. All-rounder pages emphasize balanced design concepts, while defense pages focus more directly on protecting trophies, limiting easy percentage and performing consistently across repeated defensive battles.

Designed for Repeated Defenses

A general defense base should not rely entirely on one hidden route that becomes ineffective after it is discovered. Its core structure should remain useful across several attacks.

Flexible Defensive Trade-Offs

Every layout sacrifices something. A defensive base may expose part of the village to preserve stronger back-end damage or use an offset Town Hall to pull the attacking army away from another important section.

TH18 Defenses to Review before Choosing a Layout

Town Hall 18 contains several unique defensive mechanics. A copied layout should be reviewed according to the buildings, Guardian and defensive settings currently available on your account.

Guardian Selection

Only one Guardian defends the Town Hall at a time. Different Guardians provide different ranges, attack patterns and defensive effects, so the selected Guardian should match the surrounding compartments.

Review its patrol route after copying the layout. The Guardian should defend a meaningful area without being drawn too far away from the Town Hall or supporting defenses.

Logger Coverage

Logger is a ranged Guardian that targets ground and air units with piercing projectiles and knockback. Its value depends on whether likely troop routes pass through useful lines of fire.

Avoid choosing Logger automatically for every design. Compare its coverage with the other available Guardians and the pathing created by the layout.

Revenge Tower Placement

The Revenge Tower gains strength as more buildings are destroyed. A position away from inexpensive opening value can allow it to influence the middle or final stages of an attack.

It should not be grouped with every other high-value defense where one Hero entry or Siege Machine can remove the full area.

Super Wizard Tower Coverage

The Super Wizard Tower can chain defensive attacks across nearby enemies. It is useful against grouped troops, summoned units and crowded air or ground pushes.

Protect it with nearby damage while avoiding excessive core concentration. One successful entry should not remove it together with the Town Hall, Monolith and Spell Towers.

Spell Tower Settings

Spell Tower choices affect how a defensive section behaves. Review the active spells after copying and make sure they support the intended Town Hall, Hero, core or back-end zone.

Do not assume the copied setting is automatically correct for your Guardian, trap placement or current defense levels.

Crafted Defense Selection

Crafted Defenses can change between crafting phases. Check the defense currently available and whether its range and target type support the surrounding layout.

A layout created during another phase may need building, wall or trap adjustments before it functions as intended.

Choosing the Right Town Hall Position

Town Hall placement influences trophy protection, percentage control, Siege Machine routes and the amount of value available from one central attack. There is no single position that is correct for every defensive goal.

Central Town Hall

A central Town Hall can require attackers to pass through several defensive layers and may make a direct star more expensive.

The main risk is an overloaded core. Avoid placing every major defense inside the same spell, Hero and Blimp area.

Offset Town Hall

An offset Town Hall can pull attackers toward one side while strong defenses remain elsewhere. This may create a choice between securing the Town Hall and preserving enough army strength for the rest of the village.

Check that the Town Hall is not available through an inexpensive edge route with little defensive pressure.

Teaser-Style Town Hall

A teaser Town Hall encourages an attacker to begin from a predictable side. The route should be supported by traps, Guardian coverage and meaningful defensive damage.

Without a clear punishment plan, a teaser placement may simply provide an inexpensive objective.

Town Hall and Back-End Balance

Reaching the Town Hall should not also remove the complete defensive core. Keep relevant splash, single-target and cleanup pressure active elsewhere.

Protecting Trophies and Controlling Percentage

A trophy-oriented TH18 defense base should make it difficult to collect the Town Hall and easy outside percentage in the same attack. Protecting the Town Hall alone is not enough when half of the village can be cleared safely.

  • Cover important perimeter buildings: prevent completely safe cleanup around the full edge of the village.
  • Use storages as buffers: high-hitpoint resource buildings can delay attackers while nearby defenses continue firing.
  • Protect selected corners: corner buildings can create time pressure, but they should not be the only cleanup challenge.
  • Avoid one simple funnel: outside buildings should not guide every army toward the same high-value route.
  • Preserve defensive sections: one successful entry should not expose enough buildings for a quick Town Hall plus 50 percent result.

Planning General Air Defense

A TH18 defense layout should account for Electro Dragons, Balloons, Dragons, flying Heroes, Lava Hounds and air-based Siege Machines without becoming an excessively specialized anti-air base.

Air Defense Distribution

Spread Air Defenses so one Hero, spell or Siege Machine route cannot remove the complete anti-air plan. Support each major air zone with additional air-targeting defenses.

Air Sweeper Directions

Point Sweepers toward attractive entries based on Town Hall access, outside funneling buildings and major defensive value.

Review both directions after copying rather than assuming the original settings remain suitable.

Electro Dragon Spacing

Separate important defenses enough to reduce repeated chain value. Do not spread every building so widely that individual defenses become isolated and easy to remove.

Battle Blimp Routes

Review direct and diagonal routes toward the Town Hall, Monolith, Spell Towers and Super Wizard Tower. Anti-Blimp coverage should extend beyond one predictable trap group.

Planning General Ground Defense

Ground armies may use Heroes, wall-opening tools, spells, high-hitpoint troops and summoned units to create a direct route through the village. The base should provide more than one meaningful ground-defense section.

Wall and Compartment Variety

Use different compartment sizes and offset wall sections. One wall-opening method should not create a direct route through the Town Hall, Monolith, Spell Towers and major splash defenses.

Splash Defense Distribution

Separate Scattershots, the Super Wizard Tower and other area-damage defenses so grouped troops face pressure in more than one part of the village.

Single-Target Damage

Inferno Towers, the Monolith and other high-damage defenses should influence routes used by Heroes and high-hitpoint troops.

Their coverage should complement splash damage instead of duplicating one small defensive area.

Defending Hero Placement

Separate defensive Heroes when one spell or attacking Hero could control several together. Each defensive Hero encounter should receive support from nearby defenses.

Common TH18 Multiplayer Attack Threats

Current Town Hall 18 attacking options are varied. A defense layout should not be described as stopping all of them, but it should avoid offering one inexpensive route that several army types can reuse.

Electro Dragon and Air Spam

Reduce chain value, protect Sweepers and keep air-targeting defenses active near the back end. Avoid placing every air trap on one obvious approach.

Balloon-Based Attacks

Review defense-to-defense paths and likely Hound or Blimp approaches. Preserve splash damage and air traps beyond the first Air Defense.

Smash and Meteor Golem Armies

Avoid one direct route through every major ground objective. Offset compartments and preserve damage outside the opening push.

Miner and Hog Rider Armies

Place Giant Bombs and other ground traps along realistic defensive paths. Keep important splash defenses difficult to remove during the opening.

Hero Dives

One Hero route should not remove the Town Hall, Guardian, Monolith and another major defense together. Use walls, offsets and overlapping coverage to increase the required commitment.

Siege Machine Entries

Review Battle Blimp, Log Launcher, Battle Drill and other likely paths. The shortest route toward the Town Hall or core should cross meaningful defenses and traps.

Recommended Trap Principles for TH18 Defense Bases

Trap placement should be based on visible troop and Siege Machine paths. Avoid treating the following ideas as fixed rules for every layout.

  • Seeking Air Mines on probable air paths: cover likely Blimp, Dragon, Balloon and flying-Hero approaches.
  • Air Bombs near grouped flight routes: place them where Balloons or other flying units are likely to gather after changing targets.
  • Giant Bombs on ground-defense paths: use them where Miners, Hog Riders or support troops are likely to travel.
  • Spring Traps between likely targets: place them according to troop movement rather than filling arbitrary wall gaps.
  • Tornado Trap near active defenses: use its delay where surrounding towers can continue attacking.
  • Skeleton Trap modes: choose ground or air according to the route and target the trap is intended to delay.
  • Back-end trap coverage: preserve some traps for troops that survive the opening and core.

How to Compare the TH18 Defense Layouts on This Page

Do not select a layout only because it appears complicated or symmetrical. Compare its visible structure with your defensive goal and upgrade levels.

  • Inspect Town Hall access: determine whether it can be reached too cheaply by a Hero or Siege Machine.
  • Review Guardian selection: check the selected Guardian and whether its patrol route supports the design.
  • Check outside percentage: avoid layouts that offer too many safe perimeter buildings.
  • Review air and ground coverage: no major section should be completely dependent on one defense.
  • Inspect major defense separation: one attack route should not remove every high-value objective.
  • Check wall access: one wall-opening method should not create a straight route through the complete base.
  • Review trap distribution: traps should cover several likely approaches instead of one side.
  • Inspect the Revenge Tower: check whether it can survive long enough to gain strength.
  • Review the active Crafted Defense: confirm that it supports the copied layout.
  • Check the back end: meaningful damage and cleanup pressure should remain after the first major section falls.

How to Use TH18 Defense Copy Links

Select a TH18 base copy link to open the layout in the Clash of Clans Layout Editor. Confirm that every available building, defense, wall and trap has been placed before saving it.

After copying, review the selected Guardian and patrol route, both Air Sweeper directions, Inferno Tower modes, Spell Tower settings, Skeleton Trap modes, Town Hall access and the active Crafted Defense.

A layout may have been created during another Crafted Defense phase or before your latest upgrades. Treat the copy link as an installation tool rather than proof that the base is optimized for your account.

A working one-tap link makes the layout easier to copy, but it does not establish that the design has undergone controlled testing or will produce the same result in every trophy range.

Common TH18 Defense Base Mistakes

  • Protecting only the Town Hall: attackers may collect easy percentage around the village before committing to the Town Hall.
  • Creating an overloaded core: one Blimp, Hero dive or Smash entry may remove several major defenses together.
  • Leaving too many outside buildings safe: attackers may gain an easy funnel and destruction percentage.
  • Overcommitting against air: excessive spacing may create simple ground routes and isolated defenses.
  • Overcommitting against ground: compact defensive groups may provide chain and spell value to air armies.
  • Using random traps: traps should follow troop, Hero and Siege Machine routes visible in the layout.
  • Stacking every trap near the Town Hall: the rest of the village may receive little trap support.
  • Ignoring Guardian selection: the active Guardian may not match the copied design.
  • Exposing the Revenge Tower: it may be destroyed before becoming stronger later in the attack.
  • Ignoring defense settings: Sweepers, Inferno Towers, Spell Towers and Skeleton Traps may be configured incorrectly.
  • Leaving a weak back end: surviving troops may finish the village after the central defenses are removed.
  • Changing everything after one replay: one result may reflect attacker strength or execution rather than a repeated structural weakness.

When Should You Change a TH18 Defense Layout?

Review several defensive battles before replacing the complete base. Look for repeated patterns such as the same Hero entry, Siege route, air funnel, ground path, Town Hall approach or safe percentage section.

Start with a targeted adjustment. Change one Air Sweeper direction, revise a wall opening, move an exposed defense, redistribute traps, adjust the Guardian patrol area or protect a weak outside section.

Review additional defenses after each meaningful change. Confirm that the adjustment reduces the repeated weakness without opening a simpler route for another attack type.

Should You Rotate TH18 Defense Layouts?

Layout rotation can be useful when the same design has been active for a long time or when repeated opponents use the same prepared route. Rotation changes expected traps, wall access and troop pathing.

Do not rotate automatically after every three-star result. A focused adjustment may be more useful when the layout continues to perform appropriately against other attacks.

How These TH18 Defense Layouts Are Reviewed

Layouts may be community-submitted or editorially reviewed for their Town Hall level, visible structure, category relevance, image quality and copy-link availability. Editorial checks may include Town Hall access, Guardian coverage, outside percentage, major defense distribution and likely troop routes.

Publication does not automatically mean that a layout has undergone controlled battle testing or that it will perform identically for every player. Read the layout review methodology for information about submissions, editorial checks, corrections and testing labels.
