TH5 War Base with Diagonal Compartments – Anti 3 Star (Copy Link)

Strategy Explanation
This TH5 war layout runs a diamond-shaped core with many small, staggered compartments to slow pathing and split troops. The Town Hall sits slightly right of center beside the Clan Castle, covered by the Air Defense and inner splash. Four Archer Towers form a cross around the inner diamond, while Cannons are tucked one layer deeper than usual so Giants have to punch through multiple walls to reach them. Two Mortars are split high and low, overlapping on the Town Hall approach. Elixir storages are placed outside on the left and right as deliberate tanky decoys; Gold storages sit inside the ring to stay safe for late-star denial. Traps are concentrated on the inner runways—springs on the narrow connectors and Air Bombs near the AD—to punish Giant/Healer or early Balloons. Outside buildings (camps, huts, and collectors) are spread to the edges to bleed time.
Strengths
- Anti-3 star focus: Central TH + offset CC makes luring difficult and forces a long push through multiple compartments.
- Pathing traps Giants: The zig-zag connectors create frequent 90-degree turns, springing Giants before they ever meet the core defenses.
- Solid air cover for TH5: Air Defense sits inside with overlapping Archer Towers; two Air Bombs protect likely balloon entries.
- Time pressure: Spread trash buildings and deep storages make cleanup slow even after a good entry.
- Split splash: Mortars high/low cover each other so one spell or snipe can’t remove all your splash.
Trap and CC Setup
- Clan Castle: 1 Valkyrie + Archers, or 1 Baby Dragon if allowed in war. Place on defense; the central CC is hard to lure.
- Springs: On the narrow inner connectors leading to Cannons/Archer Towers—the spots already shown in the layout.
- Air Bombs: One near the Air Defense side facing the most open approach, the other opposite to catch back-end Balloons.
- Small Bombs: Pair near likely Wall Breaker targets on the entry corners.
How to Use in War
- Scout for the enemy’s favorite entry and swap a Cannon and Archer Tower if you expect heavy air.
- Keep camps and huts wide to force a long walk for cleanup troops—this base wins on time often.
- Don’t move the outside elixir storages; they’re intentional bait that pulls Giants off-line.
Attack Types This Counters
- Giant–Wiz/Barb spam: Springs and split splash shred clumped ground pushes.
- BARCH for percentage: Staggered defenses and Mortar overlap deny easy 2-star snipes.
- Early Balloons: Central AD plus trap coverage punishes light air without perfect spell timing.
