Defense-Focused TH5 Defense Coc Layout | Anti 3 Stars Tank Village

Strategy Explanation
This TH5 war base is built as an anti–3 star design with layered compartments and tight pathing. The Town Hall sits in the inner ring, slightly right of center, guarded by staggered splash and point defenses. The Clan Castle is central enough that luring is awkward without committing troops, while the Air Defense is tucked close to the core on the south-western side to deny early Balloon snipes. Two Elixir Storages are parked on the left flank as high-HP bait, pulling Giants into narrow corridors lined with spring traps and small bombs. Multiple 2x2 and L-shaped pockets force wall breakers to overcommit and make Giants walk around corners under Archer Tower and Cannon crossfire. Builder Huts line the top edge to add time pressure in the late raid.
The design aims to give up percentage on the outer ring but deny access to the core. Attackers who split their Giants or rush Wall Breakers into corners get picked off, while Balloons run into the central AD and air bombs on approach. It’s a clean, defensive-first setup for war where a solid 1–2 star hold is realistic against typical TH5 armies.
Strengths
- Centralized Town Hall and Clan Castle make clean lures and direct snipes difficult.
- Dual Mortars staggered diagonally provide overlapping splash on every entry lane.
- Air Defense near the core with air bombs on the right side punishes Balloon rushes.
- Compartment maze creates predictable Giant pathing across spring traps.
- High-HP storages on the left act as giant-kite tanks, buying time for defenses.
- Corner/top-line Builder Huts add time-fail potential in tight attacks.
Base Layout Breakdown
- Town Hall in the inner box with Cannons forming a triangle around it for steady DPS.
- Three Archer Towers spaced to cover all sides; one anchors the right flank where most snipes happen.
- Mortars positioned north and southeast of the core for constant splash coverage.
- Air Defense just south-west of the Town Hall; air mines staged on the approach from the east/right.
- Two Elixir Storages outside on the left; Gold Storages kept inside the rings.
Trap Placement Notes
- Spring traps sit in the narrow choke points leading from the left storages and the southeast entry.
- Small bombs protect key corner turns where Wall Breakers usually target.
- Air bombs are offset to the right to catch Balloons after the first defensive pickup.
Clan Castle Troop Recommendations
- 3 Wizards + 3 Archers (15): strong vs Giants and Archers, hard to pull.
- 1 Balloon + 2 Wizards + 2 Archers (15): punishes attackers who skip a lure; pairs well with central AD.
War Use & Tweaks
- Facing Loon-heavy clans: pull one air bomb to the left side so both approaches are trapped.
- If opponents like Giant-Healer, slide an Archer Tower slightly inward on the right to keep the Healer in AD range.
- Rotate spring traps between wars to avoid memorized paths.
