Strategy Explanation

This TH5 war base uses a compact, two-ring hexagon to force awkward troop pathing while keeping the Town Hall and Clan Castle tight in the core. The storages sit on the outside as beefy buffers, while the real damage sits a layer in: cannons and archer towers staggered around the inner ring, two mortars split diagonally, a centrally placed Wizard Tower near the top, and the Air Defense tucked close to the Town Hall. The idea is simple: make enemies chew through high-HP buildings first, then walk into layered splash and crossfire.

Attackers who drop Giants from one side are redirected along the hex walls, pulling them past spring traps and into overlapping mortar/Wizard Tower splash. Archers and Barbarians get trimmed by archer towers before they ever see the core. The Clan Castle in the middle is deliberately hard to lure at TH5, so defending troops almost always engage under maximum cover. You’ll also notice a couple of bombs guarding the approach to the Town Hall—great for punishing wall breakers and cleanup swarms late in the raid.

Strengths

  • Concentric hex walls create heavy pathing pressure; Giants tend to walk rather than beeline to the Town Hall.
  • Wizard Tower top-center plus split mortars provide excellent splash coverage on every approach.
  • Air Defense is centralized, so Balloons and healer plays from higher TH attackers struggle to reach it early.
  • Clan Castle is truly central, making lures expensive and often impossible for same-level opponents.
  • Storages on the outside buy time and soak damage—common source of time fails in war.
  • Traps are layered: springs along the inner entries and small bombs near core choke points.

Build Notes & Trap Placement

  • Keep the Wizard Tower slightly offset toward the top as shown; it covers the widest clump zones.
  • Place springs in the narrow gaps between the inner defenses where Giants naturally step.
  • Keep two small bombs inside near the Town Hall to delete wall breakers or punish late cleanup.
  • Air Bombs should sit just inside the outer storages on the top side to catch early Balloons.
  • Spread outer collectors and huts to the edges for time pressure, but avoid full corners to prevent easy funneling.

Recommended Clan Castle

  • Baby Dragon + Archers (10 + 5 housing): brutal versus mass Barb/Arch and hard to lure.
  • 3 Balloons: punishes Giant-heavy attacks if they ignore air; pairs well with centralized AD.
  • If donors are limited: 2 Wizards + Archers still hits hard from the core.

War Scouting Tips

  • Swap an archer tower with a cannon if your clan faces Balloon-heavy attackers.
  • If enemy favors Giants, double up springs on their usual entry side after the first defense.
  • Prioritize Wizard Tower and Air Defense upgrades first; they’re the anchors of this layout.
