Strategy Explanation

This TH18 war base uses a diamond-style structure with a tight central core and several smaller compartments wrapped around it. The main idea is to stop attackers from getting clean value in one straight push. Key defenses are not all sitting in one easy line, so spam armies have to deal with changing pathing, side pulls, and defensive fire from multiple angles.

The Town Hall area is protected inside the lower-left side of the central structure rather than being freely offered on the edge. That makes it harder for an attacker to grab it with a cheap hero dive, but it is still far enough from the absolute center that a bad entry can leave troops walking away from it. The upper and side compartments add another layer of control, forcing attackers to commit spells if they want to keep their army together.

Strengths

  • Good anti-3-star shape: the spread-out compartments make it difficult to roll through the whole base in one clean path.
  • Core defenses are protected: the central section holds strong defensive value behind multiple wall layers.
  • Awkward funneling: outside buildings and staggered compartments can pull troops toward the sides instead of straight through the middle.
  • Useful against spam hits: root-style pushes, dragons, and mixed ground armies can lose time breaking through the boxed sections.

Core Value Protection

The strongest part of this layout is the layered core. Heavy defenses are packed close enough to overlap damage, but not so close that one Freeze or Rage push solves everything. Attackers who enter from the top have to fight through several defenses before reaching the Town Hall side, while entries from the bottom can stall on walls and defensive compartments before reaching the higher-value center.

This is useful in war because it often forces attackers to spend early Warden ability or extra Freeze spells before the army has fully reached the middle. If the main push slows down, the outer buildings can stay alive long enough to cause time pressure.

Pathing and Funneling Pressure

The layout does a good job of making the first funnel decision uncomfortable. The side compartments are not completely open, and the outer buildings are placed wide enough to pull troops off line. That matters against Electro Dragons, Root Riders, and hero-based entries because one small pathing mistake can split the army into two weaker groups.

For best results, avoid moving outer trash buildings too close together when you copy the layout. Their spacing is part of what makes the base annoying to path through. If your clan castle troops are defensive, pair them with this shape to punish attacks that arrive in the core too slowly.

Best Use in War

This TH18 war base is a solid choice for regular clan wars and CWL rounds where you want a layout that does not give away an obvious opener. It is especially useful when opponents rely heavily on safe spam entries rather than detailed base planning. Use the copy layout option if you want a ready-made TH18 war setup, then adjust traps after a few defenses based on what your clan is seeing most often.

If you are facing a lot of air attacks, check Seeking Air Mine coverage around likely blimp and dragon paths. If ground spam is more common, keep spring traps and small bombs near the inner approaches where troops are likely to bunch up.
