Strategy Explanation

This TH18 layout uses a diamond-style frame with the Town Hall placed high in the base instead of dead center. That choice changes the usual attack flow immediately. An attacker can secure one side and still have a long way to go before fully claiming the Town Hall, while a direct Town Hall push has to move through multiple layers and defensive crossfire. The core is split into several medium compartments rather than one open center, which makes pathing less clean for smash attacks and keeps key defenses from being taken all at once.

The upper section is the heaviest defensive area, with the Town Hall backed by more buildings and tight compartment support. The middle of the base carries important splash and point defenses in separated pockets, so troops moving inward do not get simple value from one jump or one freeze cycle. The lower half is more open in appearance, but it still channels troops into the center through narrow routes. That trade-off suggests the layout wants attackers to enter comfortably from one side, then lose rhythm once the army reaches the layered middle.

Against air, the spacing is useful. Defenses are not stacked into one square, and the high-value targets are spread across the upper and central sections. That matters against Electro Dragons because chain value looks less comfortable in the core than in more compact rings. It also means a blimp route toward the Town Hall has to cross meaningful coverage instead of flying through a soft lane.

Strengths

The main strength here is how the base divides important value. The Town Hall, central damage, and side compartments are close enough to support each other but not so close that one spell set solves everything. It has a strong war feel because it encourages awkward entries and makes full control harder after the first layer falls.

  • Offset Town Hall: The Town Hall is protected without being central, which can pull attacks upward and create uneven pathing afterward.
  • Split core compartments: The middle is broken into several sections, limiting easy movement for root-style pushes and reducing clean jump value.
  • Good anti-air spacing: Defenses are spread around the diamond, which helps lower chain value and makes air troops travel under fire for longer.
  • Wide outer ring: Exterior buildings can stretch funnels and punish attackers who do not commit enough to both sides.

Air Attack Considerations

This layout is built to be annoying for common air spam. The spread of defenses across the left, right, and central lines means loons and dragons do not get immediate collapse value from one side. Electro Dragons in particular want clean building chains and compact layers; this base offers some chain opportunities on the outer edge, but the important damage zones are not packed together in an easy way.

The Town Hall being high also makes blimp timing more important. A direct blimp from the bottom has a long travel path, and side blimps have to respect angled defensive coverage. If you want to test it yourself with the copy option, air pathing is one of the first things worth checking in friendly challenges.

Ground Pathing and Smash Pressure

Ground attacks will usually try to enter from the lower sides or lower center because that is where the shape looks most approachable. The layout answers that by forcing troops into central junctions rather than giving them one straight corridor. Once the army reaches the middle, it has to choose between compartments instead of naturally rolling through a single box.

That is especially relevant for heavy smash styles and Root Rider variations. They can still get strong value if the funnel is perfect, but this design tries to make the second phase messier than the first. Heroes and support troops are likely to separate if the entry is not tight, and that usually slows momentum before the upper Town Hall section is finished.

Legend League and War Use

This is the kind of hybrid defensive shape that makes sense in both war and Legend League. In war, it aims to deny a clean 3-star route by splitting value and asking the attacker to commit early to either the Town Hall side or the deeper core. In Legend League, the same structure can be useful because it does not hand out simple percentages on one edge while still keeping major defenses active across the base.

It is not a pure anti-2 design and it is not only built for one attack style. The appeal is its balance: enough compartment depth for ground, enough spacing for air, and an offset Town Hall that changes how attackers have to plan the entire hit.

Best Entry Points to Watch

If you are defending with this layout, the most important areas to monitor are the top corners and the lower middle approaches. The top corners,,
