TH18 War Base with Offset Town Hall and Split Core

TH18 War Base with Offset Town Hall and Split Core

Strategy Explanation

This TH18 War Base is built around a layered diamond-style shell with the Town Hall placed high in the layout rather than directly in the middle. That offset placement changes how attackers approach the base. A direct push for the Town Hall does not automatically open the entire core, and a full core dive has to survive multiple compartments before it reaches the highest-value defenses.

The center of the base is dense, with major defenses and support structures packed into small connected compartments. From the image, the Monolith and key high-damage defenses are protected behind several wall layers, while the Eagle Artillery sits away from the Town Hall section instead of stacking every major target into one spell-friendly area. That separation matters in war, because attackers cannot remove all of the heaviest value with one clean entry.

The outer ring also helps the defensive plan. Buildings are not dropped in a simple circle, so funneling looks less comfortable than it would on a clean box base. Ground armies are likely to split if the first layer is not trimmed properly, and air attacks do not get a short, obvious line through all premium targets. This layout appears built to make a triple depend on precise setup rather than raw spam.

Strengths

The main strength here is how the important targets are spread while still staying protected. The Town Hall, core damage, and supporting defenses are close enough to cover each other, but not so stacked that one entry solves the whole base.

  • Offset Town Hall: Taking the Town Hall does not automatically grant the core, which is useful against attacks that rely on one deep push.
  • Layered compartments: Multiple wall sections slow root-style ground charges and make hero support more complicated.
  • Central damage concentration: The middle of the base looks dangerous for troops that drift inward too early, especially once they are under fire from several angles.
  • Good defensive spread: Key defenses are distributed across the base, reducing the value of one-sided smash entries.
  • Awkward outer shape: The perimeter is uneven enough to create pathing mistakes if the funnel is rushed.

Town Hall Side Pressure

The Town Hall compartment is one of the defining features of this design. It is guarded by nearby defenses and sits behind walls, but it is still visually distinct enough that attackers will naturally test that side first. That creates a useful decision point in war: commit to the Town Hall early and risk poor pathing into the rest of the base, or ignore it and deal with the threat later while under heavier pressure.

Against air attacks, this top-side positioning can disrupt simple straight-line planning. A blimp path toward the Town Hall may have to cross multiple defensive layers, and even successful Town Hall removal does not guarantee clean follow-up on the core.

Ground Attack Pathing

Ground armies should not get an easy full sweep unless the funnel is very controlled. The side compartments and diagonal structure encourage sideways movement before troops settle into the core. That is useful against smash attacks that want one clean lane from edge to center to edge.

Root Rider style pushes can still pressure the base because of the compartment density, but they need support to stay together. If the heroes drift around the flanks or the funnel leaves too much trash standing, the attack can lose shape before reaching the most important defenses.

Air Attack Considerations

This layout does a decent job of limiting simple chain value because the major targets are not lined up in one obvious strip. Electro Dragon players can still test the wider corners and outer buildings, but the inner compartments do not present a free set of chains straight through the base. That makes spell timing and funnel control more important than usual.

Lalo-style attacks may prefer to take a section with heroes first, then fly across the remaining defenses. The challenge is that the defense spread is wide enough that cleanup balloons can get stretched thin if the first phase does not remove enough core pressure.

War Use and Practical Fit

This is a solid fit for regular war and CWL if you want a layout that makes triples work for every piece of value. It does not rely on one gimmick. Instead, it asks the attacker to solve an offset Town Hall, a protected center, and uneven pathing in the same hit. That combination gives the layout a practical anti-3-star identity without pretending to cover every weakness.

If you want to test it quickly, the copy option makes it easy to drop into friendly challenges and see which entries strong attackers prefer against it.
