Strategy Explanation

This TH18 War Base is built around awkward movement through the middle of the layout rather than a simple ring or box approach. The Town Hall sits high on the right side instead of dead center, while the core is broken into several narrow compartments with major defenses spread across different lanes. That forces attackers to choose between pushing for the Town Hall early or committing deeper into the center first, and that decision can easily break a clean plan.

The center compartmenting is the main idea here. A large open-looking core section is still surrounded by layers that redirect troops, and the heavy defenses are not stacked into one easy spell target. The Monolith, Infernos, X-Bows, and splash damage are placed so that a force entering from one side does not automatically get the next key defense for free. The Eagle side pressure and the Town Hall side pressure also come from different angles, which helps against armies that rely on one strong push through the middle.

Against air, the spread of defenses makes it harder to line up clean value through the base. Against ground, the base tries to create side drift, especially when a funnel is incomplete. If the defensive structure suits your current setup, you can use the copy-layout option to load it straight into Clash of Clans.

Strengths

This layout does a good job of making attackers work for every major objective instead of giving away chain value or simple core access.

  • Offset Town Hall: the Town Hall is protected but not central, which can pull attacks off balance.
  • Split high-value defenses: core threats are separated well enough to reduce one-spell or one-push value.
  • Layered compartments: troops are likely to stall or drift if the funnel is not clean.
  • Good anti-3 structure: there is no obvious direct route that secures Town Hall, core, and backside defenses in one smooth line.
  • Wide defensive coverage: point defenses and splash are distributed across the base instead of clustered into one section.

Town Hall Side Pressure

The Town Hall compartment on the upper right is one of the most important features in this layout. It is not sitting alone on an exposed edge, but it also is not buried in the exact center. That matters in war because many players want safe two-star security before they think about the triple. Here, going for the Town Hall too early can leave the core and opposite side defenses standing, while delaying it can create pressure later in the attack.

This kind of placement is especially annoying for air armies that want a clean sweep pattern. They may have to burn hero support, a blimp, or extra spell investment just to keep the route stable near the Town Hall.

Core Compartment Control

The central section is designed to slow momentum. Even though some compartments are not huge, their spacing matters because troops can step sideways instead of continuing straight through. That helps the defense create separate damage windows from the Monolith, Infernos, and surrounding support defenses.

For smash armies, the danger is not only raw damage but loss of shape. Once troops split in the middle, the attack can lose its main tanking line and expose support units too early. That is the kind of structure that often turns a strong entry into a messy finish.

Air Attack Considerations

This is not an easy base to sweep with simple air spam. The defensive coverage is broad, and the Town Hall side does not naturally feed into the rest of the base in a comfortable clockwise or counterclockwise pattern. Electro Dragon players also do not get ideal chain lines across the entire base because the compartments and spacing interrupt easy bounce value in several places.

Lalo-style attacks can still work, but they need precise hero value first. If the heroes fail to remove enough of the Town Hall sector or one side of the core, the balloons can run into layered backend damage with limited cleanup support.

Ground Entry and Funneling

Ground attacks will likely look at entries from the lower side or lower-left sections where pathing into the middle appears more realistic. The problem is that the base does not reward a shallow push. Attackers need a disciplined funnel on both sides, otherwise root riders, titans, or a smash group can slide around the central compartments instead of breaking through them.

This is where the anti-3 design shows up clearly. A decent attack can still secure major value, but turning that value into a full base path is harder than it looks from the outside.

Best Use in War

This layout fits regular war and CWL use better than farming purposes because its main value comes from defensive pathing and triple denial. It asks the attacker to commit to a plan early and punishes hesitation around the Town Hall and core. If your goal is to make strong TH18 players earn all three stars rather than hand them a comfortable route, this is a solid style to test.
