TH18 War Base with Box Core and Anti Air Spread
Latest Reviews
Strategy Explanation
This TH18 War Base is built around an obvious central box core that protects the Town Hall and stacks a lot of danger in the middle of the layout. The ring outside that core is wide and open enough to tempt air spam or hero entries, but the real idea here is to make attackers spend time clearing low-value outer buildings before they can line up a clean push into the center. From the image, the core is very compact while the major defenses are spread around the outside lanes, which creates a split between pathing control and core punishment.
The Town Hall sits deep in the middle, surrounded by a thick wall box and packed support, so simple smash entries are unlikely to reach it quickly. On the lower-right side, there is a denser defensive strip with several heavy defenses and support structures grouped into compartments, which looks intended to punish direct entries from that angle. The rest of the base uses scattered buildings and point defenses to stretch attackers around the perimeter instead of giving them a smooth, short route.
Against air, this kind of setup is trying to deny a straight line to the Town Hall. Against ground, it tries to force troops to walk the edge too long before turning inward. If the defensive structure suits your current setup, you can use the copy-layout option to place it directly in Clash of Clans and test how attackers choose their entry.
Strengths
The layout has a few clear defensive strengths visible right away. It does not hand over easy central access, and it also avoids compressing every major defense into one side of the base.
- Town Hall protection: the core is deep and heavily boxed, so attackers need real commitment to secure the center.
- Anti air spacing: outer defenses and buildings are spread enough to make Electro Dragon chains less comfortable than on tighter diamond bases.
- Uneven entry quality: not every side gives the same value, which can lead to awkward funnel choices.
- Hybrid defensive use: this works for war and Legend League because it pressures both safe 2-star plans and greedier 3-star attempts.
Core Pressure and Town Hall Access
The center is the identity of this base. Instead of inviting a trade where an attacker grabs the Town Hall and settles for 2 stars, this layout makes the core the hardest part of the raid. That matters in war, where anti 3 star value often comes from forcing bad timing into the middle. Troops that circle too long on the outside may hit the core late, under reduced ability pressure, while troops sent too early can lose support before the center is opened.
This also helps against smash armies that depend on keeping everything together. If the outer ring does not collapse evenly, the main force can split before reaching the Town Hall compartment.
Electro Dragon and Air Spam Considerations
This base has useful anti air traits even though it is not a full anti-air island style layout. The buildings around the perimeter are not packed into easy chain lines, and the square core makes it harder to get perfect value through the middle with simple funneling. Electro Dragons usually want broad, connected targets and predictable sweep through a base. Here, the attacker is more likely to get uneven chain value and less reliable movement into the center.
Because the base is broad rather than narrow, air spam also has to choose between wide deployment and controlled access to the Town Hall. That tradeoff is helpful in both war and Legend League defense.
Ground Pathing and Hero Funnel Pressure
Ground armies should find this base annoying because the path into the middle is not naturally short. The long perimeter creates a real chance for side walking, especially if the initial funnel is not precise. Hero entries from the right side may look attractive because of the heavier defensive concentration there, but that also means heroes can get stalled before opening enough of the base.
On the opposite sides, the spread buildings can waste time and make support troops drift. That is useful against Root Rider style pushes or smash attacks that rely on a straight lane toward the Town Hall.
Best Use in War and Legend League
This layout makes the most sense as a TH18 War Base for players who want a central anti 3 star concept without using a fully compartmented maze. It should also fit Legend League players who prefer layouts that force attackers to earn the Town Hall instead of giving up a quick safe route. The design is not about surprise traps you cannot see in the image; it is about awkward pathing, delayed core access, and enough air spacing to make spam less comfortable.
