TH18 War Base with Split Core and Anti 3 Star Pathing

Strategy Explanation
This TH18 War Base is built around a crowded central core with multiple layers of compartments and an offset Town Hall placed in the upper-right side of the base rather than dead center. That choice matters. It forces attackers to choose between pushing directly for the Town Hall or committing through the heavier central value first. In either case, they are not getting everything in one smooth line.
The core looks packed with high-priority defenses and utility buildings, including major splash and single-target pressure concentrated around the middle lanes. The Town Hall sits behind additional walls and defensive support, while the central area is loaded enough that pathing can break down if a charge or smash loses control. The outer ring is not wide open either, with point defenses and support structures placed to make funneling less clean than it first appears.
Against ground armies, this layout tries to force troops inward through tight channels where they can be slowed and pulled across multiple defensive zones instead of marching straight through one side. Against air, the spread of key defenses and the offset Town Hall create a decision problem: commit early to the Town Hall and risk leaving core damage behind, or push through the middle and deal with layered fire on the way out.
Overall, the base is clearly trying to make clean three-star plans awkward rather than simply defending one side harder than the others. If this defensive structure fits your war or Legend League setup, you can use the copy-layout option to place it directly in Clash of Clans.
Strengths
This layout does a good job of separating important targets without making the base look too stretched. The shape encourages partial value rather than full value, which is exactly what you want from an anti 3 star TH18 base.
- Offset Town Hall: The Town Hall is protected but not central, which often forces awkward entry choices.
- Dense central compartments: Core troops are likely to take sustained damage while trying to reach multiple high-value defenses.
- Layered wall structure: Wall breaks need to be planned carefully, especially for smash or Root Rider style entries.
- Good defensive spread: Major defenses are not stacked into one easy spell zone.
- Uncomfortable cleanup pathing: Even after taking the center, attackers can still have side compartments and edge defenses left behind.
Town Hall Side Pressure
The upper-right Town Hall section is one of the defining features here. It is protected by multiple layers and nearby defenses, but because it sits off-center, attackers may try to isolate that quadrant rather than fight the entire base. That creates an important defensive tradeoff: the Town Hall is harder to pick up naturally during a full-circle push, yet it may invite a more targeted entry with heroes or a Queen Charge.
In war, that is still a worthwhile defensive idea because it forces commitment. If an attacker spends too much on the Town Hall side, the rest of the base can be left with enough damage to stop the triple.
Core Value Protection
The center of this layout is where the anti 3 star intent really shows. Key defenses are clustered in a way that punishes troops once they step off the outer ring and into the middle. This is especially useful against armies that depend on one protected pack of troops staying together through the core.
With the central sections so busy, attackers need strong spell timing and clean funnel control. If they drift even slightly, they can lose access to one side of the core and finish with strong defenses still standing.
Ground Attack Pathing
Ground troops are unlikely to get a simple straight-line route here. The compartment layout bends movement inward and then sideways, which can cause Root Riders, heroes, or smash troops to split at bad moments. A player can definitely break this base down with the right siege and wall access, but it is not the kind of layout that forgives a sloppy funnel.
The lower half also has enough structure to keep follow-up troops from naturally reconnecting to the main group. That is useful in both CWL and standard war where many triples fail because one side compartment stays alive too long.
Air Attack Considerations
This base is not a pure anti air box, but it does have some nice anti-air qualities. The core is compact enough to apply sustained pressure, while the Town Hall position can force loons or dragons into an uncomfortable route if they do not get early value. Electro Dragon users will notice that the compartments are not lined up in a clean chain-friendly pattern from edge to core, which helps reduce easy bounce value on entry.
At the same time, the base is still compact enough that a disciplined air player can threaten several defenses at once with good spell use. That makes this a solid war and Legend League choice, but one that still benefits from smart trap support around expected entry lanes.
