TH18 War Base with Box Core and Centralized Town Hall

Strategy Explanation
This TH18 War Base is built around one obvious idea: make the attacker commit everything into a dense middle while the outside ring wastes time and breaks clean pathing. The core is packed tightly inside a large square wall box, with the Town Hall and major damage defenses grouped in the center. That kind of structure usually aims to punish players who try to force a direct smash without properly setting the funnel first.
The outer layer is scattered with support buildings, collectors, hero altars, and defenses that stretch the deployment line. That creates messy pathing for both ground and air attacks. Instead of giving a clean lane into the Town Hall, the layout makes troops walk around the box first, giving point defenses and splash damage more time to work. From the image, the value is clearly concentrated in the middle, so any plan that reaches the core can get a lot at once, but getting there cleanly is the main challenge.
This also looks like a layout that tries to bait overcommitment. If an attacker sends too much to break the center, they risk running out of support for the back-end defenses. If they hold too much back, the central damage stack can stop the push before the Town Hall area is secured.
Strengths
The biggest strength here is how much pressure is concentrated in the middle. Even if the attacker gets some edge value early, the main push still has to survive a dangerous core phase.
- Deep Town Hall placement makes quick 2-star grabs less comfortable.
- Large central box compartment limits easy direct access and can force jump or wall break commitment.
- Spread outer ring makes funneling less reliable for smash attacks.
- Stacked core value creates heavy punishment if troops enter without ability timing and spell support.
- Mixed defensive coverage around the edges helps chip heroes and support troops before they reach the center.
Core Pressure and Town Hall Access
The core is the whole point of this base. The Town Hall is not sitting on an easy edge and the important defenses are close enough together to create overlapping damage in the middle. That means attackers cannot casually send a hero dive and expect to pick off one target without taking return fire from several angles.
In war, this is useful because it forces commitment. A player going for safe percentage may get the outside, but the Town Hall push still needs real planning. If this structure fits what you want for clan war defense, you can use the copy-layout option and test how your own trap setup supports the core.
Ground Attack Pathing
Ground armies will notice the awkward approach first. The box core does not naturally invite troops straight in unless the funnel is finished on both sides. If one side stays open, root riders, yetis, or other heavy troops can start walking around instead of collapsing into the center. That buys the base valuable time.
This is especially relevant against players who rely on a simple line push. They may clear one side well but leave enough trash on the opposite edge to pull heroes and support units wide. Once that happens, the center becomes much harder to finish through the Town Hall area.
Air Entry Considerations
Against air, the base is trying to deny easy value from a straight sweep across the map. Because the key targets are central, air troops still have to survive through the middle rather than clipping one side and exiting safely. That is helpful against dragon-style attacks that prefer obvious lanes.
The outer ring also reduces free chain value compared to a tightly packed edge base. There are still enough buildings around the perimeter that a careless air spam can drift, split, or arrive at the core without proper support. Electro Dragon players in particular would need to be careful about where they start, because this base does not hand out a simple side-to-side chain through every major defense.
Hero Value and Edge Control
Heroes matter a lot against this layout because the outside is where the attack is either stabilized or ruined. If the attacker gets clean edge control with King and Queen, the central push becomes much stronger. If those heroes are forced into awkward side buildings, the main army reaches the box under worse conditions.
That is why this layout works best as a war base rather than a resource-focused design. It is not trying to protect collectors first. It is trying to make the attacker spend time and precision before they get anywhere near the Town Hall and central defense cluster.
Best Use in War
This base makes the most sense for regular war or CWL where forcing a messy plan is often enough to lower hit quality. It is especially useful against attackers who prefer direct spam or who rush their funnel. More technical players can still break it down, but they will have to earn the center instead of getting it for free.
