Strategy Explanation
This TH18 base is strong for war defense because it makes both the Town Hall and the core awkward to reach in one smooth push. It also has solid anti-air value, especially against Dragons and Electro Dragons, since the base is spread just enough to break easy chains while still keeping heavy defenses covering each other.
The shape gives attackers tough choices. If they send everything toward the Town Hall, they usually lose pathing and run out of force for the back end. If they play for percentage first, the core stays dangerous for too long and can turn a clean hit into a shaky 2-star.
Strengths
- Hard Town Hall access — the Town Hall is not sitting in a free corner or a simple center box, so it takes real setup to claim it safely.
- Good anti-air coverage — Air Defenses, Sweepers, and key point defenses cover multiple angles, which makes straight Dragon spam feel awkward.
- Nice Electro Dragon resistance — the building spacing reduces easy chain value, especially through the middle lanes where E-Drags usually want to snowball.
- Hybrid pathing gets messy — the compartments and offsets can pull Miners and Hogs in different directions if the funnel is even slightly off.
- Strong core pressure — once troops reach the center, they are under heavy fire from several high-value defenses at once.
- Works in Legend League too — it is not just a war gimmick base. It can hold up well against common ladder attacks.
Defense Strategy
The base works by making the attacker fight through layers instead of giving them one clean channel. The left side and lower sections use smaller compartments to mess with troop movement, while the middle stays packed enough to punish anything that drifts inside without support. That is a big reason hybrid attacks can look strong early and then suddenly split when they hit the inner defenses.
Against air, the value comes from the way the defenses are staggered. Dragons do not get a clean sweep across one side, and Electro Dragons do not get the long chain lines they want. Air Sweepers matter a lot here, especially if your traps are placed on the most natural entries instead of directly beside the Air Defenses. Seeking Air Mines and Black Mines should punish the route players usually take when they try to force the Town Hall.
The base also holds up well in time-pressure situations. Even when an attacker wins the core, the spread on the outer side can leave cleanup awkward, which is exactly what you want from an anti-3-star war layout.
Best Use Case
This base is best for war first, especially if you want something that can defend against both safe 2-star plans and full triple attempts. It is also a strong option for Legend League because it handles common air attacks well and does not fold easily to casual spam.
Pro Tips
- Keep trap placement fresh — if you reuse this base in war, change the air traps often so repeat attackers cannot map the entries.
- Do not ruin the spacing — small edits can accidentally give Electro Dragons much better chain value.
- Test against Queen Charge and Hydra — those are the matchups most likely to show where the base needs small tweaks.
- Protect the likely funnel points — even one smart giant bomb or tornado placement near a natural entry can swing a defense.
