Strategy Explanation

This TH18 war base uses a diamond-style structure with the Town Hall held high in the core rather than sitting loose on an edge. That setup is clearly aimed at anti 2 star defense: attackers have to commit a real army, heroes, or a blimp to secure the Town Hall, and they still need enough force left to push through the rest of the base.

The layout spreads key defenses across separated compartments instead of stacking everything into one easy value pocket. For air attacks, especially Electro Dragons, that matters a lot. The storage placement, small gaps, and staggered defense lines reduce clean chain value and make it harder to get a smooth sweep from one side to the other. The outer buildings also create awkward funneling angles, so spam attacks can drift around the diamond instead of driving straight into the core.

Strengths

  • Good anti 2 star setup: the Town Hall is protected deep enough that a safe percentage hit is not automatically a safe Town Hall hit.
  • Strong anti air spacing: air defenses, heavy splash, and point defenses are spread in a way that makes Electro Dragon chains less efficient.
  • Awkward pathing: the diamond shape encourages troops to walk around corners if the attacker does not build a clean funnel.
  • Balanced compartment value: no single entry gives away the entire base, which helps against blimp plus hero follow-up attacks.
  • Useful for war and CWL: it fits best when you want a base that can punish rushed air spam and force proper planning.

Anti Electro Dragon Chain Control

The most useful part of this layout against Electro Dragons is the spacing between compartments and the way high-hitpoint buildings are not lined up in one simple chain. E-Drags want predictable building rows, especially into air defenses, sweepers, and the Town Hall. Here, the attacker has to choose between starting wide for percentage or entering directly for the core, and both choices come with pathing risk.

The outside ring also helps break momentum. If the funnel is lazy, Electro Dragons can hang on edge buildings while the main damage stays active inside. That is exactly what you want from an anti air war base: not immunity to air, but enough delay to make rage timing and freezes uncomfortable.

Town Hall Access and Core Pressure

The Town Hall position is the main reason this works as an anti 2 star base. It is close enough to the upper core to look reachable, but not exposed enough for a cheap hero grab. An attacker usually needs a committed push, a Battle Blimp, or a strong hero charge to secure it. If that opening fails or only half-connects, the second star becomes stressful fast.

The central defensive cluster also means troops that do reach the core are taking fire from multiple angles. This is useful against Hydra, Electro Dragon spam, and air smash styles where the attacker depends on a clean straight-line push.

Compartment Shape and Funneling Traps

The diamond layout is not just for looks. It changes entry angles and makes the base less comfortable to funnel from the corners. Wide trash placement along the sides can pull troops outward, while the internal walls split movement into smaller lanes. That can separate heroes from the main army or make loons arrive late behind dragons.

Against ground, the broken compartments help prevent one siege machine from opening the whole base. Attackers still can plan around it, but they need to be precise with wall breaks, jumps, or root-style pathing.

Best Way to Use This Base

Use this TH18 layout in war or CWL when your clan needs an anti 2 star base that does not give away the Town Hall easily. It is especially sensible against clans that lean on Electro Dragons, Hydra, or simple air spam. If you use the copy layout option, review your trap placement afterward and adjust a few air bombs or seeking mines based on what your opponents usually run. Small trap changes can keep the same structure fresh without rebuilding the whole base.
