TH18 War Base with Central Core and Anti Air Pathing

Strategy Explanation
This TH18 war layout is built around a dense central compartment system with the heaviest value packed near the middle. The Town Hall sits slightly off true center, while major defenses and core structures are layered around it rather than lined up in a straight channel. That matters against both safe two-star plans and full triple attempts, because attackers do not get one clean entry that reaches everything at once.
The outer ring is broken into many small and medium compartments, which creates awkward movement for heroes and ground troops. Instead of giving a smooth clockwise route, the walls force repeated retargeting and make funnel mistakes more punishing. From the image, the core also looks crowded with high-value targets and defensive coverage, so even a successful push into the middle has to survive overlapping damage before it can exit cleanly.
For air attacks, the spread of defenses is one of the more useful features here. Key anti-air coverage is not stacked into one easy spell zone, and the building spacing around the top-right and lower edges helps reduce easy Electro Dragon chains. This does not remove chain value completely, but it does mean air spam needs a better funnel and more deliberate spell timing than it would against a compact box layout.
The overall idea looks very clear: make the first star possible but make the second and especially the third take real commitment. A direct push toward the Town Hall can be pulled into the core, while wider side entries have to deal with awkward compartment transitions and defenses firing from multiple angles.
Strengths
The layout offers several practical defensive advantages for war use, especially against attackers who rely on simple pathing or heavy air spam.
- Layered core pressure: the central zone is dense, so troops entering for Town Hall value stay under fire for a long stretch.
- Good compartment count: heroes and smash armies are less likely to glide through the base without wall support.
- Town Hall not isolated on an edge: safe percentage play still requires commitment into defended space.
- Reduced chain comfort: building spacing around several edges limits obvious Electro Dragon bounce lines.
- Wide defensive spread: attackers cannot remove all major threats with one early spell investment.
This also suits anti 2-star use because the Town Hall is protected by surrounding structure rather than sitting in a corner that can be sniped with limited troop commitment.
Air Attack Considerations
This is the most relevant talking point for the layout because the anti-air intent is visible in the spacing and compartment shape. The base does not give a simple straight-line sweep from one side to the other. Air troops entering too wide risk drifting around the core instead of crossing it efficiently, and that can leave the Town Hall section active longer than expected.
Against Electro Dragons, the best feature is not one magic compartment but the overall spacing pattern. Several important structures are separated enough to make careless chain placement less rewarding. Air spam can still force progress here, but it should need proper funnel troops on both flanks rather than just a broad drop.
Ground Pathing and Core Access
Ground attackers will notice that the base creates several decision points before the center is fully open. That is useful against Root Rider style entries and heavy hero pushes, because a bad opening can send troops around a side compartment instead of through the strongest value. The defending idea is to make wall access just as important as raw troop strength.
If you plan to use this setup, keep the structure intact when copying it. The value comes from the relation between the outer compartments and the central ring, not just from the Town Hall position alone.
War Use and Practical Fit
This layout fits war play best because it tries to pressure both safe two-star armies and more ambitious triple attempts. It gives up very little for free, keeps the important value protected by layers, and asks the attacker to commit real planning before the center falls.
It is especially reasonable if your war opponents lean on Electro Dragons, broad air spam, or simple hero funnel plans. It is not immune to a well-planned charge or a cleanly opened ground route, but it does force more precise execution than a flatter or more open TH18 design.
