TH18 War Base with Offset Town Hall and Split Core
Latest Reviews
Strategy Explanation
This TH18 war base is built around an offset Town Hall in the lower half of the layout and a busy, layered core above it. Instead of giving attackers a clean straight line through the middle, the compartments break movement into several short steps. That matters against both smash attacks and hero-based entries, because troops are likely to drift sideways into defenses before they can lock onto the next major target.
The Town Hall is protected by multiple layers and sits far enough from the outer edge that a simple snipe is not available, but it is also not centered in a way that gives away the whole core for free. Above it, the main defensive weight is spread through the inner ring, with heavy damage split across different compartments rather than stacked in one small area. That makes spell timing harder and reduces the value of one clean push through the base.
The top side is more open, but it still feeds into defensive pockets rather than a full direct lane. The lower core looks packed with high-value targets, which should punish overcommitment if an attacker sends too much into the Town Hall section. Overall, the layout appears aimed at making a safe 2-star possible but turning the third star into a messy finish.
Strengths
The strongest part of this base is how it separates key objectives. The Town Hall, core damage, and side compartments do not line up neatly, so attackers need a real plan instead of a simple one-line entry.
- Offset Town Hall placement makes direct value pushes less comfortable.
- Compartment layering can slow Root Riders, Yeti smash, and other straight-path ground armies.
- Core defenses are dense enough to punish troops that lose funnel control.
- Important defenses are spread across the middle instead of clumped for easy spell value.
- Outer trash buildings are unevenly placed, which can create drift on wide spam attacks.
Town Hall Section Pressure
The lower Town Hall compartment is the main anti-2-star feature here. Because it sits below the central defensive mass, troops going for it are likely to spend key abilities and tanking early. That can leave the remaining army thin when it tries to move upward into the center. In war, that trade is useful: even when the Town Hall falls, the follow-up path toward the rest of the base is not clean.
This also helps against smash attacks that want Town Hall access and core value in one sweep. The approach angle matters a lot, and a bad funnel can send troops around the lower side instead of through the next layer.
Core Pathing and Triple Defense
The central structure is what gives this layout its anti-3-star feel. Defenses are arranged so that moving from one compartment to the next is not automatic. Even if an attacker breaks one wall layer, the next target is not always directly ahead. That creates hesitation in troop movement and opens more time for single-target damage, splash, and hero pressure to stack up.
For triple attempts, this means the attack often has to choose between a safer Town Hall route and a stronger core route. Getting both while preserving cleanup strength looks difficult from the image.
Air Attack Considerations
This base does not present a simple rectangular chain line for Electro Dragons, which is a good sign. The building spacing around the edges is inconsistent enough to reduce easy chain value, and the internal compartments can pull balloons and heroes in awkward directions after the first layer drops.
Air attacks can still work if the attacker creates a narrow lane first, especially from the top side where the shape looks a bit more open. But the spread of major defenses through the middle should force more careful spell use than against a box-style layout.
Ground Entry Angles
Ground armies will probably look at either the lower side for Town Hall control or a side entry to cut through the middle diagonally. The issue is that this base does not reward half-committed entries very much. If the funnel is shallow, troops can split across compartments and lose momentum before reaching the upper sections.
That makes this layout a solid fit for regular war or CWL where denying the third star matters more than simply protecting loot. If the defensive structure matches what you want to run, you can use the copy-layout option to load it directly into Clash of Clans.
Best Use in War
This is the kind of TH18 War Base that works well when you expect organized attacks rather than casual farming hits. It gives up very little for free, asks for accurate funneling, and makes the attacker commit to a real route through the base. Against players chasing a high-percentage two star, the Town Hall is reachable. Against players pushing for the triple, the split structure and offset objectives make the finish much less straightforward.
