Strategy Explanation

This TH18 base uses a compact inner core with several offset compartments around it, instead of giving attackers one obvious line straight through the middle. The Town Hall is not placed dead center, which is important here. It forces a choice: commit early to remove it and risk bad pathing into the rest of the base, or save it for later and deal with core pressure while major defenses stay active.

The main defensive idea looks built around slowing 3-star plans rather than just protecting one resource side. Key defenses are spread through different layers, with heavy damage concentrated in the middle and high-value support defenses placed so they cannot all be reached by one push. The layout also uses a ring-like outer structure in places, especially along the top-left and right edges, which can make heroes and tanks walk wider than expected if the funnel is not perfect.

Air pathing is also less comfortable than it first appears. The air defenses are not stacked on one side, and the base shape creates awkward angles for Electro Dragons. There are compartments and gaps that can break smooth chain value, while the deeper core keeps air troops under fire for a long time. Ground armies have a similar issue: even after taking an outer section, they still need to punch through multiple short compartments before getting stable access to the center.

Strengths

This layout has several things that make it solid for war and usable in Legend League defense.

  • Offset Town Hall placement makes clean one-phase attacks harder and can force awkward timing on blimps or hero dives.
  • Layered compartments reduce the value of simple straight-line smash attacks.
  • Good defensive spread keeps major damage sources separated, so one spell set or one jump does not solve the whole base.
  • Strong anti-air shape gives fewer easy chain lines for Electro Dragons than a flatter box base.
  • Outer trash buildings can stretch funnels and create side tracking for heroes and Root Riders.

Town Hall and Core Pressure

The Town Hall section works best because it is not isolated. Attackers going for it still have to respect nearby core damage, and that creates pressure on healers, support troops, or spell timing. This is especially useful against attacks that want an early Town Hall plus a clean path into the Monolith, Infernos, or other central value. Even if the Town Hall goes down, the follow-up through the center does not look comfortable.

The core itself is compact enough to keep overlapping coverage, but not so tight that every defense is exposed to the same spell value. That balance is what gives the layout anti-3-star potential instead of just anti-2-star value.

Electro Dragon Matchup

This base is clearly better into Electro Dragons than many open diamond layouts. The building lines are uneven, and several compartments interrupt smooth chains. Attackers cannot just drop from one broad side and expect ideal bounce value all the way across. Because the Town Hall is offset and the base does not give a clean straight corridor, rage and freeze timing becomes more demanding.

It is still important to respect a blimp or hero-supported entry, but as a general anti-air shape, this layout does a good job of making Electro Dragon spam feel less automatic.

Ground Pathing and Hero Dives

Ground armies will usually want to create a narrow entry and push into two layers quickly. The problem is that the base gives a lot of chances for drift. Side compartments and edge buildings can pull heroes away, especially if the attacker is greedy with funnel troops. Root Riders and smash armies can break walls, but they still need structure to avoid wrapping around the outside.

Hero dives are most threatening where an attacker can grab the Town Hall edge first and then trim a side compartment for pathing. That is the main point I would watch if you use this in war.

Legend League and Hybrid Use

This is a practical TH18 hybrid layout because it keeps the defensive priorities of a war base while still protecting key value across the village. It does not look like a farming-first setup, and that is a good thing if you mainly care about defense pressure. In Legend League, the spread of defenses and awkward entries can punish rushed planning and lazy spam. In war, it has enough core depth and anti-air structure to make triples work for the attacker.

If this defensive structure matches what you want to run, you can use the copy-layout option and test it with your own trap setup inside Clash of Clans.

Best Use Cases

I would use this layout mainly as a TH18 War Base or as a Legend League defense when you expect a lot of air hits and standard smash attacks. It is especially useful for players who want an anti-3-star shape without relying on a fully central Town Hall. The design gives enough flexibility to work as a hybrid base too, but a
