TH18 War Base with Central Core and Anti Air Spread

Strategy Explanation
This TH18 War Base is built around a compact central core with the Town Hall protected by multiple layers of walls and high-value defenses stacked close enough to create heavy pressure, but not so open that attackers get easy pathing through the middle. The overall shape uses angled compartments around the core, which helps break up clean troop movement and forces both ground and air armies to commit deeper before they can secure the Town Hall and key defenses.
The defensive idea here looks straightforward and practical: make the first phase of the attack awkward, then punish the push once it reaches the middle. The Town Hall sits in the center with major damage nearby, while the surrounding compartments spread out point defenses and support buildings so attackers cannot take everything with one clean entry. Air defenses are not clumped into one side, which is important against Electro Dragons and other air spam. X-Bows, Infernos, and the heavier core damage appear positioned to keep firing as troops move inward, so even if an attacker gets an early funnel, the follow-up through the base is still uncomfortable.
Because the outside ring has staggered buildings and a few offset compartments, this layout also tries to interfere with simple line-based attacks. Air spam from one edge will not get ideal chains all the way through, and ground armies should have a harder time holding a straight route into the core without losing control of troops.
Strengths
This base does a good job of protecting the Town Hall while forcing attackers to earn every layer on the way in. It is especially solid as a war layout because it asks for precise pathing rather than giving away easy value from one side.
- Central Town Hall: The core placement makes quick 2-star plans less comfortable.
- Layered compartments: Troops are less likely to move cleanly from edge to core without splitting.
- Wide air coverage: Air defenses and supporting damage are spread well enough to challenge direct Electro Dragon entries.
- Mixed defensive depth: Important defenses are not all sitting on the same line, which lowers simple spell value.
- Strong middle pressure: Once troops step into the core, they face concentrated damage from multiple angles.
Core Value Protection
The biggest selling point of this layout is the core structure. The Town Hall is not exposed to a simple blimp path or short jump entry, and the compartments around it create extra time under fire. That matters in war, where many attacks are built around removing the Town Hall early and letting the rest of the army coast through. Here, the attacker usually has to spend real troop value to reach the center.
The nearby heavy defenses also stack well with the Town Hall threat. Even when troops break in, they are likely to be slowed, redirected, or thinned out before they can convert that entry into a full triple path.
Air Attack Considerations
This is one of the better traits of the layout. The base does not offer long, clean building lines through the middle, so Electro Dragon chains are less reliable than they would be against a tighter box base. The air defenses are spread around the base instead of being concentrated in one quadrant, which makes it harder to overpower the air layer with one blimp or one hero push.
For regular air spam, the issue is pathing. Because the shape is slightly segmented, balloons and dragons may separate around compartments instead of staying perfectly stacked. That gives the core defenses more time to work.
Ground Attack Pathing
Ground armies should notice the angled compartments right away. This is not the kind of TH18 base where a simple front-side push naturally walks into every major defense. Troops can be pulled sideways if the funnel is not exact, especially once the first wall layers open. That makes this layout useful against smash attacks that rely on clean, central movement.
Root Rider style entries can still be dangerous, especially if they remove one flank early, but the layout at least forces attackers to think about where their heroes and support troops will drift after the first break-in.
Funnel Pressure on Entry
The outside structure gives this base extra value in war because it does not hand out an obvious, low-risk opening. Several edge buildings sit in a way that can stretch funnel troops and delay the main push. That small delay matters, especially when the attacker wants to line up a blimp, hero dive, or protected air entry behind it.
If this defensive structure fits what you want for CWL or regular war, you can use the copy-layout option to drop it straight into Clash of Clans and test how your own trap setup complements the pathing.
War Use and Hybrid Value
Although this is clearly strongest as a TH18 War Base, it also works well as a hybrid if你
