Strategy Explanation

This TH18 war layout uses a troll-style structure without giving up its defensive purpose. The base is built around a packed central section with several important defenses and storages clustered behind multiple layers, while the outside is stretched into a broad diamond shape with scattered buildings and side compartments. That combination makes the base look a little messy at first glance, which is often the point: it can encourage loose air deployments and rushed funneling.

The Town Hall sits in the upper-right side rather than dead center, protected by walls and nearby defenses. The Monolith is also placed on the right half, so an attacker pushing toward the Town Hall is still dealing with heavy single-target pressure instead of only chasing the hall itself. In the middle, high-value defenses are not stacked in one tiny square, which reduces simple spell efficiency and makes it harder for one clean push to remove everything at once.

For Electro Dragon attacks, the layout tries to break comfortable chain value. The compartments are offset, outer buildings are not lined up in one neat strip, and the core has enough spacing changes to make direct line travel less reliable than on a box base. Air troops can still move through the base, but they are less likely to get that ideal straight sweep from one side to the other. The wide edge structure also invites early funnel mistakes, especially if one side is cleared faster than the other.

Ground attacks see a different problem. Because the middle is dense and compartmented, troops that do not get strong wall access can drift around the outer ring instead of cutting straight through the key defenses. That makes this layout feel more annoying than elegant, which fits the troll tag while still offering real anti-air value.

Strengths

The best part of this layout is how it mixes visual clutter with useful defensive spacing. It does not rely on one obvious kill box. Instead, it asks the attacker to manage pathing carefully from the first funnel troop.

  • Awkward Electro Dragon lines: buildings on the perimeter are spread in a way that can interrupt long chains and make rage placement less efficient.
  • Protected Town Hall side: the upper-right sector is not easy to snipe because the hall is backed by inner defenses and not left on an exposed edge.
  • Dense central pressure: the middle compartments hold a lot of defensive weight, so any push that reaches core space still has to survive layered damage.
  • Split threat profile: the Town Hall and Monolith are not piled into one obvious central tile area, which can force tougher target priorities.
  • Broad outer ring: side buildings and corner coverage can create time pressure and awkward cleanup for slower air armies.

Air Attack Considerations

This is clearly the most relevant matchup for the design. The outer buildings do not create one clean rectangle, so Electro Dragons are less comfortable than they would be against a flat-sided base. Chain value looks inconsistent across the edges, especially where compartments step inward and outward instead of following one line.

That said, anti-Electro Dragon does not mean anti-air in every form. A disciplined balloon-heavy attack that carves one side first may still create a usable lane toward the Town Hall. The stronger point here is disruption, not immunity.

Core Value Protection

The center holds much of the layout's real defensive weight. Storages, heavy defenses, and layered compartments combine to delay direct access, which matters against both smash attacks and air armies crossing the middle. Even when an attacker reaches the core, they are not automatically collecting everything at once because the important defenses are spread across adjoining compartments rather than stacked in one spell-friendly block.

This also makes the layout a decent fit for war use where forcing an imperfect second phase matters more than simply protecting resources.

Funneling Pressure

One reason this base works as a funny war layout is that it tempts sloppy starts. The edges are wide enough that attackers may overcommit to one side, leaving the main army to drift. That is especially important against Electro Dragons, which depend heavily on a stable first line and predictable movement.

If you want a TH18 design that feels a little unconventional while still serving a real anti-air purpose, this one does that well. The copy option is useful here because small spacing changes matter a lot on a layout built around breaking chain value and pathing rhythm.

War Use and Trade-Offs

For war, this layout makes the most sense as a disruptive choice rather than a standard symmetric defense. It can punish attackers who underestimate the spread or assume they can brute-force the Town Hall side with simple air spam. The trade-off is that unusual shapes sometimes give sharp path
