Strategy Explanation

This TH18 war base is clearly built around denying a safe second star first and making Electro Dragon hits feel awkward the whole way through. From the picture, the Town Hall sits deep in a layered central compartment, while the rest of the base branches out in a diamond pattern that keeps air troops from getting one easy straight flight line into the core.

The nice thing here is that the base does not depend on one trick. It pressures blimps, forces Dragons to split around side compartments, and keeps important defenses far enough apart that one good Freeze or Rage does not solve the whole attack. For CWL, that is exactly the kind of structure that punishes players looking for a comfortable 2-star.

Strengths

  • Strong anti-2-star Town Hall protection — the Town Hall is buried in the middle with layers around it, so attackers usually have to spend real troop value just to secure it.
  • Good anti-Electro Dragon spacing — the compartments and building gaps break up easy chain value, especially around the core where E-Drags normally want to snowball.
  • Awkward blimp access — there is no clean straight lane into the Town Hall, which makes early blimp value harder to get safely.
  • Balanced side pressure — the left and right sections both hold enough threat that attackers cannot cheaply trim one flank and expect the middle to collapse.
  • Solid anti-air structure — the air-targeting defenses are spread through separate boxes, so Dragons have to stay under pressure for most of the raid.
  • Good CWL reliability — this base is built to force mistakes from strong but not perfect attackers, which is exactly where many war defenses come from.

Air Defense Flow

What stands out in the picture is how the base wants air armies to lose control before they reach the middle. Dragons do not get a clean edge-to-core glide because the side compartments and defense spacing keep pulling them off line. Electro Dragons especially hate that, since their best hits come when buildings are touching in long chains. Here, the value comes in smaller chunks, which means each Rage has to work harder.

The central Town Hall setup also changes the timing of the attack. If the blimp goes early, it has to cross real defensive pressure. If it goes late, the main army often starts drifting or thinning out before the Town Hall is secured. That timing pressure is a big reason this base fits anti-2-star war play so well.

Best War Matchups

This layout is strongest against players who want a safe air 2-star and hope the rest of the base falls naturally. It is also good into straight Electro Dragon spam, rushed Hydra entries, and war attacks where the funnel is only half-built. Against better players, it still has enough depth to force extra spell use and turn a planned triple into a messy finish.

Practical Trap Advice

  • Put Seeking Air Mines on likely blimp lanes — do not waste them only beside Air Defenses when the Town Hall is the real prize.
  • Keep Black Mines on the natural Dragon entries — this base gets stronger when the first wave loses momentum early.
  • Protect the side compartments that shape the funnel — once those go down too cheaply, the whole anti-air plan gets weaker.
  • Do not tighten the core spacing — the current spread is one of the main reasons Electro Dragons do not get easy value here.
